The main objective pursued by the course is to promote the integration between knowledge of the European cultural heritage and current developments in the ICT (Information and Communication Technologies) fields, by training new specialists and experts capable of satisfying the growing need for new contents posed by the Information Society and by bringing them to effectively master these skills in practical applications.

The final exam requires the candidate to present and discuss in front of an appointed commision an original thesis in one of the course disciplines he/she developed and wrote under the guide of a supervisor. The final mark is expressed as a fraction of 110 and the commission will assign it taking into account the overall curriculum of the candidate, the quality of the thesis work, the results of the discussion and any other elements deemed relevant.

The course has been a international one for the past five years, within the "Euromachs" consortium agreement which included the following partners: University of Coimbra (Portugal) , University of Graz (Austria), University of Turku (Finland). The COVID-19 crisis interfered with the needed renewal of the consortium agreement. As a consequence, the international partenership is temporarily suspended for the current academic year.
